What Does it Mean to Be a Romanian Worker in France?
A roumain travail en France is a person of Romanian descent living or working in the country. Many Romanians have relocated abroad since their country joined the EU, and their departure has both positive and negative impacts. For example, the remittances sent home by Romanian expats provide a vital source of income for families and contribute to economic growth, while also providing valuable skills and experiences that can be brought back to Romania. At the same time, many of the most highly educated Romanians have left their homeland because they believe they can find better opportunities in more prosperous countries such as the United States and Germany.
According to the Expat Insider 2021 survey by InterNations, career was the most important reason for relocating for 43% of Romanian expats. This is similar to the global average of 47%. The survey also found that the majority of Romanian expats consider themselves to be happy in their current job, with 68% citing this aspect as important in their ideal work environment.
